Responding to Grace

Matthew 20:1-6 is a a parable which gives us 3 different examples of responding
  1. People who see the landowner as unfair - the perspective of the 12 hour workers. The more we think we have earned, the more we think God is unjust.
  2. People who see themselves as undeserving, unworthy, guilty (false humility) instead of joy & gratitude. The more we do this, the more we bring condemnation on ourselves.
  3. People who gratefully accept God's grace. God's desire to give to us is based on His grace. Be thankful.

James 4:6 - "God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble"

Ephesians 2:8-9 - "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast"
