Joshua 8 - Maxwell's Law of Navigation: Joshua balances planning & faith.
Maxwell puts forward a question that is very timely to my life today -
"When does human planning get in the way of trusting God for results?
Or conversely, when does faith become presumption, expecting God to do for us what we must grab hold of ourselves?"
Balance faith & human preparation.
Joshua demonstrated this balance. He asks whether the army should attack & if so, when. God orders the attack & instructs Joshua to set an ambush but gives no further instructions. Joshua planned the details.

v.2 - David has a heavy heart
v.3 - David moves from his restlessness, his circumstance into prayer, activating his faith.
This is a choice you & I can make.
How do I respond to circumstance?
CHOOSE TO OVERCOME
Turn my attention to God rather than what state my faith is in or my circumstance.
Live with certainty & assurance.
Proverbs 3:13-18 (Compare with yesterday as same reading)
God blesses everyone who has wisdom & common sense.
Wisdom leads us safely along.
Wisdom is the source of happiness.

That was great!
It really got me thinking this morning about the balance of planning and faith. In other words, we can't only have faith, we've also got to have actions. This described my situation so well. See, I have been in a working relationship with someone for a while, my leader was so full of faith, so full of God's words and promises, lovings and carings, but she doesn't care anything about the details of how to do things properly. She doens't know how to turn the computer on, how to check the emails,etc. And she doesn't want to learn. I suffered a lot because of this imbalance. Actually reading your notes today made me decide(not finally though)to leave her. God can't bless someone who can't be responsible for their own actions and who's not willing to do any actual planning. We're His vessels on earth, and there's work to be done, isn't it? Things can't just happen by itself. We've got to make it happen and we have to do it the right way.
