1 THESS 5:1-11, PSALM 15, PROV 3:21-26
1 THESS 5:11 MAXWELL - Vision: Paul was a futurist.
Paul turns his attention to the future & the day of the Lord.
We can count on this one future event.
"Where there is no hope for the future, there is no power in the present" - John Maxwell
1 Thess 5:8 - Put on the breastplate of faith & love, and the helmet of the hope of salvation.
Ephesians 6:14 - breastplate of righteousness
Ephesians 6:17 - helmet of salvation
PSALM 15 - Values
v.1 - Who may live in, experience the presence of God?
The psalm continues with the character of such a person.
v.2 - integrity, honesty, trustworthy
v.3 - does not gossip or harm others
v.4 - honors others, speaks out against wrong, keeps his word
v.5 - not greedy, doesn't take bribes, is strong, stable, shall no tbe moved.
This is the value system you & I must have, the character we must display if we are to have access to God in His Throne room. We need to be clean. If we have this rightstanding, the Bible tells us to boldly enter the Throne room (Hebrews 4:16)
The entry ticket has been purchased by the Blood of Jesus!
Let's live set apart, pure in His sight.
PROVERBS 3:21-26
We need to value wisdom, insight, clear thinking & common sense.
They will be life savers for us, saving us from traps & surprises, keeping us safe & sound.
v.22 - They will keep us attractive (I need more wisdom) : )
v.24 - More promises of a good night's sleep (Psalm 3:5, 4:8)
