COLOSSIANS 4, PSALM 6, PROV 2:1-5

Colossians 4 - Maxwell: Paul was addressing relationships. Leadership is about relationships.
  • Leaders can impress others from a distance (requires the will of the leader)
  • Leaders can influence if they get a bit closer (requires the will of followers)
  • Leaders can impact others only in close relationships (requires leaders, followers, intimacy & trust)

About praying - Col 4:2 - "Continue earnestly in prayer", Col 4:3 - "praying also for us" (pray for others)

My speech - Col 4:6 - "Let your speech be with grace, seasoned with salt" Prayer focus

Psalm 6 - David was human, revealed his weaknesses, emotions, anxieties. He was transparent & vulnerable, even though he was a "man after God's own heart" (Acts 13:22) - Maxwell

Prov 2:1-5 John Maxwell talks about Desire. What do we want? Why? How badly? Passage obviously talks about wisdom too. Desire wisdom. Psalm 37:4

Seek wisdom, receive, treasure, incline your ear, apply your heart, cry out, lift up your voice
