We have been absolutely blessed by the presence of our exchange student HIKARI (yes, she has the same name as one of the bullet trains!) Hikari has been with us for a few weeks & is likely to stay for 11 months.
As well as the usual Japanese/Australian cultural exchange, we have had our worldview expanded to include the life of a competitive swimmer. Hikari trains near daily in Japan so has joined the local squad here & is gearing up for the local high school carnival & then onto other meets.
Have been taking her there so its been quite a different thing for me but it has been great to encourage her to improve her PB & be a motivator of sorts.
She has fit right in with the family & enjoys our youth ministry too! We had an eye opening prayer experience yesterday - if only I had captured the audio or visual and cast it. A had-to-be-there moment!

That's awesome that you have an int'l student at your house! A competitive swimmer is a wow! :)
My family had a Japanese female student as well back in 2004, & I loved it!
Hope you guys are having a grand time!
